BG, noob team. But seriously, I just wanted mafia to target Blassy tonight. Stupid coin flip. Also who killed Ovi? Hmm you killed Ovi. Ovi was the last target you mentioned, so he got it. I stated Blassy last.

So... Why did Poli and Neo die? Bad luck. I've been running the whole game off rng, and their numbers came up for a random double death. Hmm you killed Ovi. Ovi was the last target you mentioned, so he got it. I stated Blassy last. Oh sorry. Ovi magically resurrects and in his place, Blassy spontaneously dies.

Hah! I suspected you were Mafia. With this game done, and Jorm's apparently proceeding quickly (4 dead already), I'll be putting up my sign-up thread in the next couple of days. With that blistering pace in the other game is your May game going to be a late April game instead? I spontaneously die!? Oh well. God couldn't save me this time, I supoose. Yeah, God is Dead

Well, as our gamesmistress/goddess can attest, I got some of the facts, some of the time, and had more or less gotten there by the end. But it was far from an unmitigated success, on my part. (Darnit, browser, had to start this message again. Memo to self, don't have the shift key held down whilst clicking on a post formatting button.) If someone hasn't announced this already, I had the dubious honour of being your doctor, for the game. You can browse my public thoughts, easy enough, but here's a summary of some of the background behind it. Night 1: Impressed by Poli's logic, I decided to protect Poli. Day 2: I was going to be hit by Real Life commitments, and be away for the due end of the day, so I had decided to get in there quickly by 'pre-ordering' a protect myself for the following night, and post a statement designed to be provocative enough to attract the mafia to myself, that night, but not quite so provocative to get lynched during that day by the accumulated masses. Well, it was my best idea, and I probably didn't get it right, anyway. ...however, things extended and more conversation happened. At one point I came down with two main competing theories: 1) Poli is actually mafia along with Edlich (Dya is innocent), or 2) Dya is a definite mafia while Edlich may be mafia and helping them (Poli is innocent). It was that "deleted post" by Edlich that caused these thoughts. Anyway, based upon this, barring anything interesting happening overnight I would have to come up with a plan for the coming day to get either Poli or Dya seriously examined (read: lynched), and see what they resolved as. I know... by these two plans Edlich had a roughly 75% chance of being mafia and the other two only 50% (mutually exlusive) each, but if I'd targetted Edlich and they had been mafia... I'd still have the choice between Dya and Poli. So I deemed it would have been better to one of the others... but I'm getting ahead of myself. Night was still not here, and given the latest information I'd decided that Hurd, Chand or (given the more uncertain version of theory 2) Edlich would be targetted that night. Night 2: I plumped to protect Hurd, as you now know. Obviously the real target was protected by Serr, whoever that was. Day 3: I was overjoyed! I'd protected Hurd! But now I was sure that the mafia would know what the chocolate meant, so I better stay quiet about it. Which didn't stop me from deciding to pursue Dya, as you all know. But had I chosen Poli it would have been just as wrong, so... meh... Incidentally, the persecution of Dogdoo made no sense to me at the time, and I'd have to re-read the thread to work out if it was the guilty parties that made that happen, or just mob mentality. Night 3: Based upon the (surviving) theories I looked to see who had annoyed most of the possible combinations of Mafia the most, thus I decided to protect Ovi. (The next day I fully realised what Serrland had been saying, Day 3, but as far as I was concerned I'd actually protected Hurd. Obviously Hurd and fellow-mafia knew otherwise, thus actually understood the hint. Day 4: Early on in the (game) day, I was again unsure as to whether I'd be around much before night fell, so I again pre-booked a protect me. I was going to see if I could (again) make myself look 'dangerous' to the mafia, but I'd have to find a good opportunity to do so. {A spoiler section about private messages}(But I can't seem to get the Spoiler tag to work properly and be obviously a Spoiler..) I've not played any Mafia/Werewolf game, before, where private messaging was actually encouraged between players. Except, of course, for within mod-assigned groups (where the mod generally asks to be Cc:ed into all such conversations, to keep control of things). Not that it can be stopped (where players aren't totally randomised and thus don't know how to TG/message/'tell' other players 'off game'), but... When I receive a private message and say something, I've got no more reason to believe this than if you tell it to me 'on game', in public. In public, someone can counterclaim, and logic can apply to roleclaims and the like. Of course, a public claim is within sight of mafia. If you were certain that I was a non-hostile then you can at least present your case. But how would any of you know if I was innocent or not? You wouldn't. In fact, the only people who truly know I'm innocent (usually) are the mafia. So... I don't take notice of private messages. (I acknowledge them, but I won't use them in decision making.) And so just like "talking at night", I was a bit bemused to see such things being openly conversed about, on-thread. The amusing thing? Amongst the private messages, I had Player A privately claiming Player B's role. (And I insisted that I'd ignore this claim, as I did. Even after the actual truth came out.) Player C then asked if Player B had privately claimed a role. (And I insisted that I would not confirm or deny this. (But now you know they hadn't.) And that it wouldn't affect me. (Again, it hadn't.) Truly, nobody pursuaded me to trust them more (or less) by what they said, and I'm tried to make sure I was also not to be trusted more (or less!) by my reply. Nor give away any meta-information, like who apparently trusted me. ...okay, so it's more amusing without all the explanation. But, believe me, I'm still internally laughing about it. And then I received a private message that "the doctor must protect <somebody>", as if to everybody. As noted, I was always going to ignore this, so I was going to keep on protecting myself. But sending it as a private message (with an unknown number of fellow private messages that may not have said the same thing) made me wonder if it was a canary trap. And, it turns out, it might well have been. Had we reached the next day, it would have been interesting to see if someone had suddenly gone "Lynch them! Lynch the doctor... erm... I mean obvious mafia!" based upon my (non-)reaction to their request. But I guess only the person concerned will ever know, unless they decide to spill their guts... Again. But, anyway (and again disregarding the private stuff), by the conclusion of day 4 and even into night 4... well. Hurd? Edlich? You'd overcooked it. You'd managed to be so triumphantly good at being right that I had Hurd definitely in my sights, with Edlich as a very-definite-maybe co-conspiritor. Of course, I could still have been wrong. And I've no idea how I could have swung this with everyone else, but come Day 5 (consciously deciding to stay schtum during Night 4) I'd have had a good go at presenting my case... Guaranteed that at leastthey couldn't have killed me. (Selfish, but there was still no other obvious person to protect, by the time night had fallen.)

I will admit the lynching of DogDoo was overplaying my hand. Though once my "innocence" was firmly established through the combined Shaggai/DogDoo lynch that everything would work out seemed obvious.
Of course, that Hurd would die tonight was not prepared for. I figured I had at least the loyalty of Chandy and Ovi (based on PMs) and hoped to prove my fallibility by letting some innocents die becuase of me.
I guess the flaw of my game was that it was too perfect; not a single vote against an innocent whilst also not being targeted by mafia? No one could realistically manage that.

In a trick of nature expected by no one including the omniscient dungeon master, in the middle of the night both Poli and Neo Art keel over from sudden, unexplained and unlinked heart attacks! The remaining townspeople gather again in the town hall. Today, there is a delicious chocolate Breadknife standing in the corner of the room. Ovi lies dead in another corner, killed by mafia, and in the middle of the room stands the drunk vigilante, DM. She is reeling around, looking confused and holding a blood-drenched blade. "I don't know what I'm doin'," she slurs, before tripping over a blood stained pile of clothes which turns out to be Hurd. "Nooooooooo!" Elderberry screams and runs in slow motion to Hurd's cold body. "Damnit all!" Elderberry, saddened beyond all reason by the death of his lover snatches the blade from the now snoring DM and thrusts it into his own heart, dying a beautiful, poetic death with his true love. Elderberry was the last remaining member of the mafia. Congratulations everyone who has survived, you won the game! Also I must protest that A) I do not look like that and B) my actual response would be more "Well fuck. Oh well, time to find a new one."

Just to clarify, people PM each other for this game. I get PMs all the time (this is not bragging, really!), but never from someone that wants to conspire/confide with/in me with relation to this game

You never were a threat to the plans.
