I used to play Mafia on the forum I used to frequent pretty often. Judging from the game's inclusion in the board description, I'm guessing you guys did as well (though there obviously hasn't been one in some time).
As such, I'm going to be running a game of Mafia for anyone interested. I'm sure you all know how it is played. It'll be done on this forum, with the day/night cycles being one 24-hour period per day or night (to allow people plenty of time to contribute).
The exact details as to which roles to use and how many can be decided when we have a general idea of who might be participating. Any takers?

(My recollection is that it petered out sometime October/November last year, in the fall-out from the shake-up of the community. But if others are willing to play, then I am...)

Excellent! Glad to see there's some interest. Do you think we should keep it as pretty standard Mafia for this one? One mafia member (two if we get enough people), a detective, maybe a doctor?

(I would suggest fairly standard, functionally; but feel free to 'flavour' it, so long as nobody is too confused as to what their role actually is. We previously ended up with cohorts of 9-12 players, in games, often with three mafia; but that might have included beyond-basic roles.)

That game certainly didn't go as well as I'd have hoped, but the post-mortem can probably be found in the associated game-thread and the periodicity was probably not a major element of the failure.) |

48 hours would be my preference as I can't access the forum at work (and I just got home from a 15 hour day). Also I'm in Oz so not on North American time.

More than enough for a good Mafia game. I'm not too good at the fancy flavor text thing, but I'll give it a go. Sci-fi theme, since Wiskey is at camp still. There'll be three Mafia members, one detective, and one doctor. I'll inform everyone via PM of their roles and provide the Mafia with a secret chatroom. The cycle begins at midnight GMT, roughly one hour from time of posting, starting with the day cycle as is standard. My schedule's a bit messy, but I'll try to keep to that. I'll go ahead and make a new thread for the actual mafia game, for tidiness purposes. |
