Well you could read the thread and see what people said about it. That requires effort, though, TBK.

Everyone agreed to vote for the person directly beneath them in the list. The basic theory was the only people who would have motive to deviate would be mafia. Shaggai attempted to vote out Hurd with a vote switch, and the town (As previously agreed) voted Shaggai out instead. Not quite right, but I'm not one to argue against a good result. (Oooh, it goes against the grain, talking during "Night". I'm half expecting a modkill for all those doing so.)

Well then, I guess we win the first round. Certain people found us suspicious, but we do get results. It looks like we now also have a few clues about who might be a member of the vile mafia as well. Look no further than the previously mentioned certain people. I might be wrong, of course. But, and this is a rather exciting possibility, I might also be right.

Personally I would like to solve this situation without any further bloodshed, but I'm afraid it cannot be avoided.

The dawn breaks over Truffle town. The birds are chirping and it's a beautiful new day. The sleepy denizens rise from their beds and meander to the town hall again. Over the main entrance of the hall the letters "LOL" have been crudely scrawled in blood. Rushing inside, the Truffelians find the crumpled corpse of Jormungandr and a life-sized chocolate that looks suspiciously like Poli. It appears that the townies of Truffle town are not having as much luck as they had thought because clutched in Jormungandr's hand is a crystal ball, signifying that he was the oracle. The one person from amongst you with the power to investigate who is or is not mafia is now dead. You now have 24 hours to vote on whom you would like to lynch.

As far as I can see, no obvious reason for Jor's targetting (except that the mafia knew Jor wasn't one of their number, of course), so it was pure luck on their part. I can't guarantee I'm going to be around for the lynch vote cut-off point, so I'm going to put my ideas on the table right now. We know two people's identities. One mafia, one innocent (indeed, one useful innocent, but I think that was just luck, unless there's one of those funny mafia/independent-roles like "can choose to attack any person that acts upon them, if they don't otherwis act", or something... But I think that's been ruled out.) Looking at the innocent, first. Well, Jor was voted from the off by Dya (but that later changed) and She-ep (peer pressure). Noting that we didn't all agree to "vote the next one down", and then jumped on the one that broke the pattern, we were still far from unanimous (indeed some people, Jor included, never voted at all. And I'm not sure they even spoke.) She-ep's bowing to peer-pressure (the scheme that never was) I find forgivable, but might be convenient for either a mafia or villager to go along with, at that stage. Dya was the first actual person in with a vote (to Jor). There was no rhyme or reason, so normally I'd put it down to first-day randomness. (Not the only one.) Shaggai's lynched death. Well, I'm actually interested in the following conversation, that I was puzzled at, at the time: Well that's pretty much sealing your fate. Vote Shaggai. Aye, Poli raised valid concerns, but going along with the plan just means no-one would get lynched the first day. Going out of your way to be sure someone gets lynched almost screams "Mafia". Vote Shaggai Of course, that's pruned, so to summarise: Shaggai: I vote Hurd because Poli's right [about the "Vote next person", I presume] Edlich: Well [because of breaking the 'covenent'] that's pretty much sealing your fate. Dya/Angry Russian: ... [basically jumping in to add to the apaprent Shaggai vote] Only Edlich's post could not be found. I don't know if Edlich had removed it. And, if so, why it was removed. (Noting that I don't know the quirks of this BBS system, yet, never tried deleting a post that has been replied to, so don't know if it's possible. It isn't (normally) on the NS Forums, I know.) Question to Edlich: Did you even write that?If so, why delete? If not... well, why did Dya 'quote' it. I think the Shaggai voting was supported (at least without argument) by the remaining mafia. I think it's highly likely that Dya fabricated 'support' for the sacrifice as a ruse of some kind, Shaggai perhaps being seen as a weak link or offering themselves up for such a strategy. So, until (and unless) I get any more facts to look at (e.g. role-claims by others, whatever's left, although I wouldn't even encourage that), I'm going to vote Dya. I'll try to keep up with discussion, and of course I might change my mind. (My secondary suspicions are actually upon Edlich. Maybe because of the premature "jumping on" post that was then deleted ( if it was written). Maybe because of the (false) assertion that we'd all agreed to vote-loop the first day. But this is just a hunch, and I'm sure someone can break the logic of this particular assertion.)

Forgot to add this to the secondary suspicions, but don't want to leave an "edit" on the post...
If some people would have gone ahead with the "vote next person" idea, Dya (who is my primary suspect) would have had to stay voting for Eld (who I'm giving that small chance of being mafia). Maybe a reason would have to found to break that tie mechanism.
What if Shaggai broke it unilaterally (thus looking too guilty in the eyes of the Mafia, although I'll admit that to me it looked innocent enough, at the time), they'd all gone "whoops!", Eld tried to cover by being the "You broke the covenant!" person, before recanting. But not in time, with Dya taking the opportunity to add to the dogpile and cement the idea of being on the side of good...
However, that's probably wrong and overthought. (I'd still support Dya adding to the dogpile, whether or not Eld had an original part in that, and from whichever angle (innocent or otherwise) that was.)

Having just been Mafia in the last game (in which a Mafia member got killed quick, and that the townies won), I can assure you that there is no benefit to sacrificing a Mafia member this early. Though, I have to admit that with my initial choice ending up being the one the Mafia killed does look suspicious.
