Oh, also also: I'm away on business until Saturday. I'm not sure yet what kind of internet access and/or time to use it I will have, so I might not post much the next few days.

Tenterhooks, here, waiting on who ends up getting targeted by the Revenge Killing ability. (Did I post that already, or just consider posting that? The latter, I think.) Had assumed it was delayed due to the laptop repair/replacement, and was giving our Mod time to get sorted. As it's obviously not that, seconded the CHRISSAKES... I'm all aflutter, in anticipation. (Get a Mafia, will ya? And, if not, throw that particular Magic Eightball away, Ovi, it'd obviously be a broken one!)

"Wait, please, Mr. Pope!" "Why?" "Well, wouldn't Elderberry be very angry if you kill the two male lovers? You know how protective he is of the gays!" YES BUT ONE OF YOU STILL DIDN'T VOTE CORRECTLY "I COULDN'T VOTE LAST TIME!" IRRELEVANT DIDN'T VOTE RIGHT EVER BAD OVI "Um, not to distract from... whatever is going on here, but aren't we playing a mafia game? Also I'm killing them. Like, literally, I'm stabbing Jello as we speak." "I'm not quite dead yet!" SHUT UP WILL YOU SHUT UP BLOODY PEASANTS "Wait, don't I get to kill someone?" UGH FINE "I pick DM." WOW "What? It's a valid choice. They're in the mafia!" WELL, YES BUT I WASN'T EXPECTING YOU TO GET IT RIGHT "Um, are we dead yet?" "Yeah, this stabbing kind of hurts." "It's a shame that at no point in this vicious narrative did either of us say who is stabbing us." "Right, the Pope Elderberry is." "No, no, the screen name!" "Oh you mean -" SILENCE YOU'RE DEAD NOW ALSO, MARLA, YOU'RE DEAD TOO
In a strange twist of events, no one egregiously fucked up tonight! Well, besides the Pizza for silencing Ovi twice in a row, but hey win some lose some. True, you lost your detective, but his gay lover, who is apparently an Indian chief and I believe former member of The Village People, killed a mafioso in the process! AND IT WASN'T DYA BECAUSE OF COURSE DYA WASN'T MAFIA LIKE CHRISSAKES GUYS Anyways, it is now day. I have a functioning laptop so voting will close at the end of Friday. Since the Piper and Pope are still active, the mafia does not win simply by outnumbering the civilians.

Turns out the detective did investigate me last night and uncovered my innocence. Unfortunately, he's now dead.
Can I say though, Elderberry deliberately stated that he's giving people novel roles and I was mafia last game? He's chosen a new role for me this game.
Vote Chandy in retaliation.

Just so I'm clear - Ovi, Jello, and DM died? And so has Dya and Indigo?
Not gonna lie, I'm pretty darn confused.

Serrland's post above sounds as undefinably off to me as Dya's posts always did when my Dya sense was tingling. So, since the latter was right every time except one and since I don't have anything else to go on, I'll vote Serrland.

Aw no, don't give me the sadface, now I feel bad. I have zero grip on what's what either, so no obejctions from me there. And I may be just getting hung up on some innocent phrasing. In that case please accept apologies in advance, but a gut feeling about one player is more than no feeling at all about anyone else. :/

There is 30 hours left to vote.
People aren't voting because democracy is stupid, I'm going to go flip a table.

To be fair, over half the people still alive are voting. After a fashion.
Personally, I'm cogitating. I want my vote to count, and not to make things worse. (At the beginning of the day, I had a decent idea, but that evaporated a little as the sun, and also the vote-count, rose.)

Cogitating hasn't significantly improved my faith in the original ideas, as of the start of the day, but I've realised it was probably over-thinking today's events that made me unsure, and I should still lay down my thoughts on the matter.
Who forced the tie that killed Indi on Day 1 (after originally going for Dya)? TBD.
Who started the bandwagon that ultimately did kill Dya, on Day 2? TBD.
I don't think TBD is Pope (I had somebody else, who is being less active to avoid attention, in mind for that, which is why some of today's voting confuses me), but I'd credit TBD (alongside other potentials, admittedly) with being cunning enough to suggest going for the quiet ones to seek out those trying to get away with a role (Night 1 it turned out to be the Neckbeard, by pure chance), which last night the Pope agreed with (and ended up targeting the person who ended up being the Indian Chief and, as it turns out, Lover to the Detective).
And the loss of the detective then allows her to take full advantage of the loss of an investigative role (and, with the Lovers also gone, every single non-Mafia role who know for certain, via Word Of God, someone else's status, just after the "redirecting" role had ceased to cause possible problems of interpretation).
The detective had been, the previous day, forced by circumstance to switch votes. Perhaps Jello knew TBD's status, but couldn't say without risking death? (There's always the possibility that the still-unknown Doctor could have been persuaded to protect the now-known Detective, whilst a proper sweep was conducted of the whole party... also establishing the announced Detective as truly what they say they were... But there are also problems with that approach.)
OTOH, Word Of God's death-scene dialogue suggests that the Detective had just found out who was attacking them (someone in the Mafia, then). TBD may not have noticed this (and glossed over the above possibility) when going with "Turns out the detective did investigate me last night and uncovered my innocence". Italicised to emphasise the untrue part of that statement, perhaps?
It seems nobody (living) yet wants to corroborate this statement, nor is in a position to refute it.
That said, there are other distractions, today. Who allies with who? Could TBD know she's shown her hand to those who are looking, and is thus letting (for example, but as barely even speculation) Chand get an alibi by pointing accusingly at her? Or one/both the other votes are coordinated distractions to the (in a situation that is otherwise to the prior example) clever Townie's astute deductions, possibly similar to those I've just made myself? Tricky question to answer, as a little truth to cover a greater lie often looks exactly the same as a little truth within a greater truth, and there are several possible scenarios that include significant proportions of one and/or the other theory. Or neither!
However, I know who I'm very tempted to vote for, and I think you know too. But I want to give everyone a while to pick holes in my theory before I commit, just prior to a weekend (and at least the early part of the night phase) that I'm possibly going to be largely absent from, again. (As if that last bit matters. Not sure why I'm even telling you that.)

Wow, BK. You're reading way too deeply into this. One might say it was more than a little suspiciously deeply. I'm sure you'd love to do away with me and assure a mafia victory, but to be honest I can't see us townies winning at this point anyway, given how few of us are left.
I imagine if the detective did find out who killed them, it was because, you know, he saw the face of his killer.
I voted for Chandy because she voted for me. I do believe she is mafia though. In fact, here are my tips for once I am dead. At this point, I strongly suspect that BK is the pope. BK is normally pretty logical, so it's unlike him to be leaping around wildly in his conclusions as he is at the moment. Furthermore, BKs ramblings in prior games without exception include considerations of several players. The fact that he is trying so hard to pin the blame on me suggests to me that he knows I am an innocent and that as the head of the mafia he wants me dead.
|
|
|
Post by The Beautiful Darkness on Oct 24, 2014 7:36:04 GMT
Anyway, now that BK has shown his hand and I have to attempt to defend myself, I'm going to vote for someone who already has a vote against them. I believe Serrland is innocent for the same reason Elderberry saw fit to make me so; we were both mafia in the last game. So I now recast my vote to Wytyg , who I hope is the final mafia member.

What the what? Why do i get voted to die when breadknife is the one accused of dodgy logic? Here i try to stay away from logic and go purely by gut and it still stabs me in the back . But yeah, this is weird. Not least because i guess if i want to survive - which i would like, thank you very much - I'll have to change my vote away from fishy serrland to TBD. And i never like that kind of retaliatory "you voted for me so I'll vote for you". Bleh. But i refuse to die for anyone's dodgy logic but my own , so vote TBD it is.
