I'd like to start low and go all the way to 20, assuming that's feasible.

So quick question: what kind of tone do we want?
Dark and gritty sword and sorcery? High fantasy? A little tongue in cheek?

I'd prefer a low level start (i.e. 3-4 so our arcane casters aren't utterly useless), with a more dark and gritty focus. More intrigue and politicking than zombie slaying (though the latter is rad too) Also an evil or at least neutral-alignment campaign but no one ever wants to do one of those

If we do go the skullduggery route, I'd be happy to revive my snake sorcerer. Neutral alignment and totally cool with shady shit.

Well as long as you don't turn into a gang of murderhobos (which is the chief reason why I try to avoid doing campaigns with evil PCs). I won't force alignments on you, but I will hold you to them.

(Having not played vanilla D&D since... I don't know when and I'm not even sure about 'version', it was that long ago... and not having source materials of my own easily at hand to read up on things, consider this a PTW notification. I also never really got to read the previous game thread(s?) from the start, either, so perhaps this time I could really pick up how non-face-to-face D&Ding works, preparing myself for the next iteration. When/wherever it might be.)

As long as we don't continually try to one-up how fucked our characters are, I'd be fine with an Evil/Neutral playthrough.

So long as everyone is okay with how things are going I think there's a lot more interesting places to go with a neutral campaign than a good one

So here's my planned adventure hook:
The PCs are all members of an old and esteemed mercenary/adventurer's guild. But the guild has fallen on hard times, losing members to more aggressive rivals and the slow ravages of time. The local chaptermaster has just passed away. Now the PCs must take the reins, pay the bills, and rebuild the guild's reputation through HIGH ADVENTURE.

In that case, I'm thinking Elf Wizard. Yes, yes, cliche, I know, deal with it.

Currently leaning toward dwarven monk. Think I'll avoid drunken master as that's just too cliche. Monk of the Iron Mountain seems pretty fitting.

Hmmm, Kitsune Oracle or Kitsune Sorcerer? Anyone have a preference, because Oracle gives us Cure Spells but Sorc gives wide range of enchantment bonuses and spells. Either way, I'm packing a large amount of Charisma and a wide array of disguises.

However, it also sounds like we are going to be going for different specialties, so it might not be too redundant after all.

If we're doing 3.5 I'll be a cleric. We seem to have mostly agreed on pathfinder. It's based off of 3.5. I posted a link to a rules wiki a page or two ago, so everyone can get acquainted with it.

The sorc would almost certainly be the party face and focus on enchantment and illusion spells and almost nothing else. They might pack a few offensive spells, but it will mostly be spells geared towards tricking people.

Some of them give you diplomacy as a class skill, which would really help with being the face.

If it's not too late I'd like to express tentative interest. I've played plenty of pathfinder before. Preferred class is Inquisitor, and my preference is like TSM - gritty with plenty of politicking, intrigue, social encounters, etc.

I haven't the faintest as to class.
But like Choro my time to play is limited. Only Fridays and Saturdays really.

ETA: Actually, I found a variant which replaces the Kistune's Agile trait with Affable, which gives a +1 Racial Bonus to Diplomacy, Bluff, and Knowledge (Local) as well as grating one of those as a class skill. Bluff's already a class skill and I'm doubting a CHA-oriented caster will have the best Knowledge check anyway, so effectively I trade a small bonus to acrobatics for a smaller bonus to those and Diplomacy as a class skill.

On that subject though, I actually can't start this thing between now and June 19th because my exams begin on Wednesday. But I totally understand if the rest of you want to have a session or two in the meantime, I can find a plot-convenient point to enter later.

We'll make a cheesemonger out of you yet. My serpent sorcerer was a human with the silver-tounged variant. Instead of an extra skill point every level, I got a +2 to bluff and diplomacy, and could diplomatize people a step than normally allowed. Also, Trots, are you gonna let us have traits? And are there going to be any banned feats or other character options?

Do we want to do it live or correspondence style? If we do the latter, having everyone available at the same time won't be as necessary, but it loses something. I can probably work with friday and saturday nights, but I have no regular schedule so there are sometimes I just won't be available until after midnight mountain time.
